Wildlife of Rajasthan

Rajasthan is the home of the tigers, black bucks,chinkara, the rare desert fox,the endangered caracal, the great Indian bustard,gavial, monitor lizard,wild boars,porcupine. Migratory birds like the common crane, ducks,coots, pelicans and the rare Siberian cranes,imperial sandgrouse, falcons, buzzards flocks to this state during the winter months. Typical areas representing each of the ecosystems have been earmarked as special areas wildlife.

Bhensrod Garh Sanctuary of Rajasthan
Bhensrod Garh Fort lies on the right bank of the Chambal River at a distance of around 50 Km from Kota. The fort is set amidst scenic surroundings and a village lies within the fort. Bhainsrodhgarh has a 14th century fort which was never besieged by an enemy force. Perched on a ridge overlooking the Chambal River, it is still occupied by the descendents of a feudal family. Keoladeo National Park
Keoladeo National Park is situated in the town of Bharatpur in the north Indian state of Rajasthan, about 55 kms from the Agra - the city of Taj. Keoladeo National Park is famous as one of Asia's finest birding areas, with over 380 resident and migrant species, including the Common, Demoiselle and the rare Siberian Cranes. Darrah Wild Life Sanctuary
The Darrah Wild Life Sanctuary was declared a wild life reserve in the year 1955. Much earlier it was the favorite hunting grounds of the royal rulers of Kota. The vegetative cover of the region was far thicker then. The dense forests were inhabited by a large number of tigers, deers and rhinos. No wonder it was the choice of the erstwhile maharajas of Kota. Ranthambhore National Park spans an area of about 400 sq km. The tiger is relatively easier to spot in Ranthambhore than in many other National Parks in India.
